Uncle Donut

Uncle Donut just dropped the donut menu of the year. Gone are the days you’re forced to pick between chocolate, strawberry or cinnamon.

1 Rocky Road- Cadbury chocolate, marshmallows, almonds.

2 Apple Pie Cheesecake- Pink Lady apple pie filling, thick cheesecake spread, ginger crumble

3 Lemon Meringue- Lemon curd, torched Italian meringue

4 Popcorn- Caramel popcorn, milk chocolate, sea salt

5 Strawbella- Real strawberry glaze, dehydrated strawberries

6 Creme Brûlée- Vanilla pastry cream, traditional brûlée top

C Cinnamon 

On paper this menu didn’t only make the mouth water but also looked highly technical. A creme brûlée donut in Geelong??? I had to quickly check my current location on the smart phone to ensure I wasn’t basking on the French Riveria. Ok enough hype lets look at the breakdown.

Rocky Road.

Generally, I like to keep my nuts and chocolate separate and I’m not a huge fan of Rocky Road but none the less a nice solid donut. I’m sure it will have its place in other hearts.

Apple Pie Cheesecake.

I think this is the healthy one of the batch- covers the most food groups. It actually reminds me of being spoilt by Granny’s cooking- it could be the hint of cinnamon?

Lemon Meringue.

T for tangy. I might be biased because I’m a fan of the old classic lemon meringue pie but to combine that with a donut is all time. This one will roll off the shelves.


Pop Corn.

This one’s a mouth waterer. A pinch of salt perfectly ignites the caramel and popcorn combo. Talk about balance.


That one took me back to walking out of the canteen in year 7. I don’t think the canteen lady was dehydrating any strawberries though. Adventurous spin on an old faithful.

Crème Brûlée.

Visually this one is the least appealing but we all know not to judge a book by its cover right? You only need to take one bite to know this one’s a Pearler! Its a textural delight- the caramelized outer of the donut soon makes way for the Vanilla cream. Let’s just touch on that Vanilla cream, if I was wearing a hat I would have tipped it.

Ok that’s my opinion for all its worth (nothing), now go and form yours- 100 Little Malop St, Geelong. Here's a few more shots to get the cravings going.
